Darbi Lamrani is an flutist, music scholar, and teaching artist in Southwest Florida. She studied flute performance at the University of Florida (Bachelor of Arts) and Baylor University (Master of Music). Currently, she is a doctoral candidate for the PhD in Music and Flute from the University of South Florida. Her current research interests include the music of the Imazighen (indigenous peoples of North Africa), global music-making, and multi-philosophical approaches to music education. She is also an active freelance musician, performing with The Naples Players Orchestra and in chamber music ensembles across Southwest Florida. She maintains a private studio of school-age and adult flute students, and teaches music at Florida Southwestern State College, The Canterbury School, and The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.

In August 2025, Darbi performed and participated in the Silk Road Ensemble's Global Musician Workshop. Hosted at the Zhejiang Conservatory in Hangzhou, China, musicians from around the globe gathered together to trade melodies and exchange cultural ideas surrounding music making and musicianship.
Darbi has performed on stages across Southwest Florida and the world. Performance locations include Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota (Florida), Austin (Texas), Arcidosso (Italy), Binetto (Italy), Hangzhou (China), and Paris (France).

Darbi is currently a Professor of Music at Florida Southwestern State College. Her teaching philosophy centers around hands-on student learning activities.

As a doctoral candidate, Darbi is currently writing a dissertation about how global music making practices increase and promote inclusivity in music education. Her study participants include members of AZA band, a Moroccan-Amazigh fusion band in Santa Cruz, California.

Darbi's scholarship and research also centers around a multi-philosophical approach to music education. This approach considers global philosophies of music making.

As of October 2025, Darbi is the chair of the National Flute Association's global flutes committee. In previous years, Darbi has brought along flute students to attend conventions together. She's also been invited to speak at the Florida Flute Association Convention in Orlando and the Suncoast Symposium in Tampa.

Darbi is a teaching artist who maintains an active private studio in Southwest Florida. Her students are youth through adult ages. Darbi works closely with local music educators to promote music education for all across Southwest Florida.
Sharing music education sources across social media became especially important during Darbi's doctoral coursework at USF in Tampa. All music students across the state deserve access to quality music education. During summer 2025, Darbi recorded and posted helpful teaching videos for flute students auditioning for the FMEA All-State honor bands.
